Different Societies in My College

College is not all about the lectures, the attendance, the professors or even the primary college festival for that matter. My college has much more than that. We have this collection of Clubs or Societies that caters to the choices of every student out there. The events organized by such clubs are strictly restricted to the  students of our college only,though exceptions are made usually.
If someone loves the smell of the the first rains and if nature calls out to you in a unique way unlike others then Wildlife & Nature club caters to that need.
We all have come across that one guy or a girl who is exceptionally good at Hindi, well now we all can be that good with the events organized by the Hindi Sahitya Mandal. On the same lines we also have a Gujarati Sahitya Mandal. These mandals organize a variety of events like a literature competition or a grammar test, or workshops,etc.
Planning Forum will amaze you with its events like Ad Mad ( Participants are put through a series of activities to finally ascertain who's the real ad mad who knows a lot about advertisements and who's very creative)
Hobby center caters to the inner talent in you with their quizzes, dance workshops,etc.
Those of you who have the fascination to the world of media we have the Advertising and Marketing club which tests your advertising and marketing skills though various events held throughout the year.
Cultural society takes you back to your Indian roots and lets you experience events such as classical singing, dancing , etc.
There is a photography Club too for everyone who like to capture enticing moments forever.
Social work should be encouraged at a young age, it awakens a part of you which you yourself thought didn't exist. NSS exactly gets you into that mode by doing activities for the society,poor and rural India.
We also have the Rotaract Club Of NM college. Also known as RCNM. Rcnm organizes events throughout the year for our college students and other colleges too. their activities or events range from the Beach cleaning drive, to the fun filled filled festival Rotofest that happens every year usually in December.Rcnm helps you also connect with the students of other Rotaract clubs by organizing joint events. One of the world's largest organizations, I don't have to say much about Rotaract, we all know about it already and we all should be a part of it.
All in all i can say my college though has its falls, it picks up equally fast with all the Clubs and the societies available for the students. Sadly i haven't  mentioned all the clubs but I'l do that as in when i am updated with all of them because each club is unique in its on way. And these clubs make one huge Fraternity of socially educated talented students(I will run out of adjectives if i begin) which i can proudly say i am a part of. 

College Assignments Are A Way to Promote Google

Our generation in this era hardly feels nothing is possible, internet has provided us with whatever we want. We get almost everything online. So i don't really understand why we still get so many assignments from college asking us to submit it at a particular date. Most of you must be doing this, we get our topics, we wait till the last two days,then go on the net search for the topics and copy-paste the info.Originality is a far fetched idea now with the projects we get. I feel colleges should at least give us topics which challenge us and make us write what we want for 2 pages or one page,rather than copying stuff for 4 pages. Its just stupid and a waste of time. And this in fact makes us exercise our mind, saves time and we feel satisfied at what we have done. I hate to copy paste stuff even though I am awesome at it. The topics we currently get hardly leaves any room for originality, I mean research is another thing, but I know students myself who have lifted off paragraphs from proper articles as it is. Why cant we get something which requires our opinions, our views, our own research? 

Attendance System In my College

Attendance-we all want it, but we cant have it, certainly not in my college. With 5 lectures a day, each lasting for 50mins, its becoming harder and harder for us to be a part of the "class". We would attend with ease had we not been burdened with pressure, but the excessive use of rules that state 75% compulsory attendance has really compelled us to turn into the "mass bunkers" category. I mean i understand its probably for our best, but frankly the university should understand that being in college automatically gets us into this vast freedom mode. We came out of school to because we were tired of going to school everyday. i don't want to participate in college activities to gain my attendance,i would like to earn it fair & square, but only when our compulsory attendance mark is shifted to at least 50%. i feel all of us would feel the same way, genuine attendance can be achieved by me at least. i love my college, the professors are good and very easy going with us, but still too much of anything is not good right?  Attendance blacklist , something which every college student dreads to be in, should no longer be a thing to be feared. Wish we could bring the required change. 

Umang- N.M's Cultural College fest.

Just came back home after spending a night with the Umang Team (Umang is the Cultural College Festival of Narsee Monjee College Of Commerce and Economics. Tagged as Asia's fastest growing College Fest) . You will be amazed at how 17 to 19 year old college students work so  hard day & night for months and pull off such a huge event of an ever increasing magnitude. In my four years of college I have been a part of Umang for two, and all these years one thing constant in Umang  which always makes me happy is the passion we students share for this festival. Every single person involved in this festival gives it their best purely with an intention of putting a great show for the audience. With a foot fall of 45000+ students every year,there no doubt how brilliant this festival is. Umang begins today and the only thing i want to do now is finish this post and run off to college to have a ball of a time with artists  like Nikhil Chinapa and Javed Ali coming in to perform..
